Kurma plantation Social impact project overview
Why are we doing this project?
During Covid lockdown we attended many online seminars to help us overcome the challenges that came with it. One of the seminar that really impacted us was on Sustainability and handling crisis by a Sustainability Consultant from Singapore. He shared because of Covid lockdown there will be other crisis for example food and financial crisis in future.
After discussion we came up with a solution to prepare for this which is to get a land for agriculture projects to prepare for future food and financial crisis. After a few months of research and efforts we managed to get a collaboration with Aliyah Rizq Farm in Desaru to do our agriculture project. We also decided to do a dates plantation project because dates are a wholesome & nutritious food for our body. Dates trees can also live for a long period of time i.e. almost 100 years, have large yield (50 to 300kg) that increase every year and many more.
What is the Dates Plantation Social impact project?
Our project is to provide long term Sustainability for low income families and overcome food crisis. After doing social impact project for more than 20 years we found that the low income communities are the most vulnerable. They do not have enough even for basic necessities let alone to overcome future food crisis. So we decided to our dates project as a social impact project we where we contribute a large portion of our dates to low income. We also plan to employ workers from the low income or refugee communities.
We will start 5 to 10 dates trees as a pilot project. These date tress are trees that are already grown at another location and will be uprooted and transferred to Desaru. After replanting it will take less than 1 year to yield fruit. The type of dates we will use are deglet nour and barhee.
* The knowledge of dates plantation and seeds are taken from Prof Khun Sak Lumjuan, Maejo University, Chiang Mai, Thailand. He as been doing this since 1997.
* We will also get support from our consultant team from Kelantan for the know how and plantation of the dates.
Benefits of this project
* Provide long term Sustainability to overcome food crisis

People can contribute any amount through our social impact fund raising platform. The benefit of our platform is that it is transparent where contributor will get the break down of expenses for the dates project. They will also get regular reports and updates on the project.
* They also have an option to contribute for one or more date trees where they will be given portion of the yield of date fruits and their names or company will be written on a standing banner infront of the date tree.
